9:00–11:00 am – Citizenship Ceremony

9:00 am–2:00 pm – Market Stalls & Face Painting

9:30–11:30 am – Buskers

We’re thrilled to welcome Kumar Pereira as this year’s Australia Day Ambassador. From design to cuisine, Kumar’s life is a masterclass in creativity and reinvention.
Born in Sri Lanka, he made waves in graphic design across London and Hong Kong before relocating to Australia, where he eventually swapped his design career for the culinary spotlight on MasterChef Australia.
At 62, Kumar became the oldest contestant to reach the Top 12 on Season 3, earning the affectionate nickname “The Kumanator”. Today, he inspires thousands with his cooking classes, culinary tours, and his beautifully illustrated Kumar’s Family Cookbook, blending Sri Lankan heritage with global flavours.
Kumar’s message is simple yet powerful: food is for sharing, communities are for celebrating, and reinvention is always possible. This Australia Day, he embodies the spirit of creativity, diversity, and connection.

• Argyle Street: Closed 7:00 am–3:00 pm (Wingecarribee to Wilshire Street)
• Old Hume Highway: Closed 11:00 am–1:00 pm for the Grand Parade
• Oxley & Jellore Streets: Partial closures from 8:00 am, full closures from 11:00 am
Traffic detours and controlled access will be in place – plan ahead to avoid delays. Parking is limited, so arrive early to secure your spot!
Pro tip: If you’re heading north–south or south–north through the region, consider taking the Hume Highway to bypass the village closures.
