There’s plenty to love about The Cottage Cafe & Restaurant, right in the heart of historic Berrima. Owned by locals Mick and Karen, the café is a relaxed and welcoming place to enjoy good coffee, generous country-style cooking and a little country hospitality.
Start the day with a hearty country breakfast, settle in for a leisurely lunch or join them for an easy-going dinner featuring generous, seasonal dishes without the fuss. The menu includes Highlands beef burgers, house-made cakes, scones and desserts, alongside great coffee and café favourites.
In the cooler months, settle in beside one of the café’s three warm fires and enjoy the cosy atmosphere. When the weather warms up, the verandah is the perfect place to sit beneath the awning and, in spring, the beautiful wisteria, while taking in the sights and atmosphere of Berrima village. With dog-friendly outdoor seating, BYO welcome and walk-ins always welcome, it’s an easy-going place to stop and stay awhile.

Mick and Karen are also passionate alpaca farmers, operating a large commercial alpaca farm in the Southern Highlands. Their love of alpacas extends to the Berrima Alpaca Shop next door, where you can browse a beautiful range of Australian alpaca products, including hand-made, hand-spun and hand-knitted 100% Australian alpaca beanies, as well as men’s jumpers and other gifts.
The café’s adjoining retail space is another little treasure, with a selection of local jams, honey, pantry goodies, books, gifts and café treats.
